About Us

A Japanese tea sourcing maison built between Japan and New York.

We help cafés, hospitality groups, and beverage brands in the United States access premium matcha and hojicha from Japan with greater clarity, reliability, and trust.

Japanese tea is entering a period of rapid global growth. At the same time, the producers, tea merchants, and regional systems behind it are facing increasing pressure: limited supply, aging producers, complex export requirements, and growing demand from buyers worldwide.

MATCHA MÉTIER was born to address that gap.

Our Mission

To make premium Japanese matcha and hojicha more accessible, transparent, and reliable for the U.S. café and wellness market.

The future of Japanese tea will not be built on vague grade labels or one-time transactions. It will be built on trust, origin transparency, long-term relationships, and a clear understanding of how tea is grown, processed, sourced, and served.

MATCHA MÉTIER helps buyers make better sourcing decisions. We also help Japanese producers and tea businesses communicate their value more clearly to the global market.

Founders

Two paths into Japanese tea. One shared goal.

One founder, originally from Kyoto and now based in New York, brings a deep personal connection to Japanese tea culture and firsthand experience in both Japanese and U.S. markets.

The other grew up in Tokyo and studied traditional Japanese tea ceremony in Kamakura. Years of practice shaped her understanding of tea quality and Japanese tea traditions.

Together, we built MATCHA MÉTIER to connect traditional Japanese tea culture with the needs of cafés, hospitality groups, and beverage brands in the United States.

Our Future

We start with sourcing. We help U.S. cafés and brands access better matcha and hojicha from Japan with verified origin and reliable supply.

Over time, our goal is to build stronger connections between Japanese tea producers and international buyers. This includes origin information, quality communication, export documentation, buyer education, and long term demand planning.

Global demand for Japanese tea continues to grow. Growth should support both sides of the market. Buyers need reliable supply. Producers sustain the quality and traditions behind Japanese tea.
